Hidden Household Hazards
How much do you know about environmental toxins that affect children’s health. Take the Children’s Health Environmental Coalition’s Virtual House tour and find out.
The house is filled with familiar, everyday household items—furniture, cleaners, art supplies, toys, bug sprays and other pesticides, carpets, personal care products and food. Within each room, click on an item to find articles about its potential risks to a child’s health and suggestions on how to avoid these dangers. You’ll also find a list of likely chemical ingredients associated with each product, along with detailed information about its health hazards and ways children may come into contact with it. And you’ll find information on how to detect the chemical in your home and get rid of it, as well as suggestions of safer alternatives.
Click here for innovative ideas for integrating chemical safety into your “Going Green” curriculum.
